We haven't won the war, but, we won the IH battle...

OR DID WE?

Chaney's "revised request" is being treated as an amendment to the original rezoning request.  It is admitted in the revised request that Heavy Industrial is probably not a good fit for Hughesville and that now they believe Community Commercial is.  On April 22nd, the commissioners made no motion or decision on the original rezoning request, only to move the "revised request" to a public hearing.  It seems they are still free to make a decision on IH or on Community Commercial, since the original request was not withdrawn or denied.  Of course, everything that was submitted to the public record was based on the request of IH, including the letter from MDP.  By moving the revised request of Community Commercial straight to a public hearing before the commissioners, there would be no staff report with recommendations on this new scenario.  The way this whole thing has been handled leaves all the applicant's and the commissioners' options open.

Hey, I tried. I brazenly handed you a Preserve Hughesville T-Shirt in the front row of the commissioners' meeting room. I was waiting for the Special Police Swat Team to converge on me.

During the Commissioner's work session, my perception of Mr. Fink (Charles County Attorney) was that he made many comments that promoted/encouraged Chaney's cause.

Isn't he supposed to just give legal advise or does he work for Chaney?

WHY is the COUNTY Attoney holding "negotiations" with Chaney and NOT with representatives of Preserve Hughesville??

I was told several years ago by Murray Levy that Fink gives legal advice to the Commissioners and NOT to private citizens!

    Hmmm - isn't Frankie a private citizen??
