Fire Truck Pull Fundraiser
Proceeds to Help Benefit the Tonya Mallard Memorial Fund
LA PLATA, Md. (April 23, 2009) — The Charles County Sheriff's Office and Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department are looking to flex their muscles and they want the community to join them on Sunday, May 3 as they host a "Fire Truck Pull" during the 62nd Annual Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen's Association Convention and Parade. Portions of the fundraiser will benefit the Tonya Mallard Memorial Fund. Tonya was a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician who tragically died in a medevac helicopter crash last September while assisting in the care of two teenaged trauma patients.
The event is open to the public and community members are encouraged to join the teams of officers, firefighters, and paramedics who are working hard to raise money for this very important cause.
