As the commissioners' political lives come into to full frontal view with the nearing elections, look for these mega-sprawl promoters of current historical record to pick a few more less significant battles that they are willing to concede in the hope that we in Charles County display the new American phenomena of societal memory loss — the public inability to think critically over long periods of time.

Cooper said he understands Hughesville residents' desire for a certain type of revitalization that will preserve the area's small-town character.
"I think a lot of things have healed from where it started four years ago and I think residents just want quality businesses put down there," he said.

I don't suffer from societal memory loss -
I will agree some healing started after the unanimous approval by the county commissioners of the Hughesville Revitalization Plan. However, all that had started was lost, when the county commissioners began entertaining Chaney's rezoning request in Hughesville.
If any "concessions" are to be made by our commissioners in the hope of EVER being re-elected, it had better be to deny the Chaney request.
