On Second Thought....

The next Chaney work session was supposed to have been scheduled by now.  We've been wondering what happened and why it hadn't been scheduled, yet.  A public notice in today's Indy answers that question:

Notice is hereby given that the Charles County Commissioners will re-open the public record for public comment related to pending Zoning Map Amendment #07-31 - Jenkins Property for an additional two week period beginning Monday, September 29, 2008.  The record will close at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2008.

[...]

The commissioners are re-opening the record due to information received following the public hearing that was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, and the original open record period which ended on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at 4:30 p.m.

At the last work session, Roger Fink stated that the "proffer", received a few hours before the work session, did not require a new public hearing process.  After the work session, we challenged that statement and asked to receive the legal verbage to support that statement.  To date, that request has not been fulfilled.  I can only guess that my LTE in the Indy commenting on that fact, may have spurred the county to rethink the fact that there SHOULD have been a new public hearing process.  But, it would seem, rather than do that, they decided to bury in the Public Notices (Page B-7 in the Indy) the fact that the public record has been reopened for comments.  Has anyone EVER seen the public record be re-opened before?  I urge everyone to review the proffer, and write to the commissioners advising them of your comments regarding the new information.

Here is the proffer.
