Maryland Director of Land Use Planning & Analysis Says Chaney Rezoning Request Inappropriate
MD Dept. of Planning (click here to view letter)
If the commissioners won't listen to the citizens, will they listen to the state? If the commissioners approve Chaney's request for rezoning, it will confirm, in my mind, the power and strangle-hold Chaney has on our commissioners. IMO, totally unethical and improper. I feel I will have no choice but to ask for an ethics investigation.

Another reason to investigate an Ethics Violation.
Frank Chaney wants to use 8 acres of the 150 acres for a Gravel Wash Pit. Chaney wants approval from the Charles County Government to give him 'favored treatment' over his competitors by rezoning ALL 150 acres to Heavy Industrial, "in order to generate income" by parceling out other lots and selling them to anyone else wanting a Heavy Industrial site.
Any approval to rezone all 150 acres of the Jenkins Property, when only eight acres is needed for his Gravel Wash Pit, just so Chaney Enterprises can generate income, gives an unfair advantage over competitors wanting to also do business in Charles County. This would be unethical.
Charles County Ethics Commission should investigate a violation of competition, free trade, and fair play if the rezoning is passed. Rezoning should not be approved by our County Commissioners.
