Hughesville Residents Weren't Shy With Their Questions and Comments at the District 1 Meeting with Commissioner Graves
Hughesville residents posed questions and comments to Commissioner Graves non-stop from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. A small group continued talking to the commissioner for another half hour after the meeting officially broke up. Topics included the "entertainment complex" and the lack of public support for this amenity, growth, infrastructure, schools, water and sewer as it pertains to the Hughesville Revitalization Plan, traffic concerns, the Waldorf Bypass, Mirant, Swan Point as it pertains to dumping grey water into Cuckhold Creek, and property taxes. For those in attendance, if I've missed anything, please post it in the comments. If anyone has specific questions on any of these topics and what was discussed, just ask in the comments.
P.S. to Phillip - They were some type of water shoes - no answer on where they were purchased.

When it comes to the subject of Hughesville, I become a little aggressive and defensive...sort of like a mother defending a child. Early in the meeting, Commissioner Graves inquired if I would like to run the meeting. To my Hughesville neighbors who attended the meeting, if you thought me rude or aggressive, I apologize if I offended you, but, I will not apologize for doing everything in my power to protect our village and our vision for it's future.

Heck with running the meeting...you should run for his job (and I couldn't be more serious)

i wish i was there. i'm sure it was lame- or has he taken lessons? When the commsioners had the stadium on the agenda it had been rehearsed. Intelligent questions- thoughtful comments seemingly answering all our posts here. They must have read them, had lsited all the objections, had a closed meeting to craft the replys for the best impact - it was very well coordinated.
So- was he prepared- not prepared. I hope you guys kept him on his toes. You guys are the most informed citizens in Charles County.
Keep up the good work

I'd hope that Sam was quite candid... I just wonder, without Fink there to prep him and feed him the "right" answers, how informed was he on all of the current events?
